When a large company opened
regional offices, sometimes into a remote outpost, with a small staff
and limited growth. But sometimes, it turns into an example of how the
new Office can be developed where it is planted.
Open System Technologies (OST)-which is the sponsor of The Line-definitely falls into the latter category, grew from three employees when it opened in 2010 to 20 employees at this time. David Gerrity, Executive Director of the Minneapolis Office OST, said the company brought in new employees every few months, and he anticipates a steady pace for future growth.
Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, OST direct employees and employ 120 70 full time contractors, and focuses on business process solutions, data center services, application development, and other IT tasks.
Minneapolis office located in historic building in TractorWorks North Loop, where technology professionals serving clients such as Target, United Health Group, and Thomson Reuters.
“We anticipate approximately 35 percent annual growth,” says Gerrity. ” As we grow, we want to do it in a way that respects and nurtures a culture that we have. We put a lot of emphasis on employee retention, and we think that makes a big difference. ”
Although the recruitment is done continuously, this process is also thorough, Gerrity added. In OST, they want that professional to stay around for a long time — something that is rare in the technology arena, where the job-hopping is common. But the focus so heavily on employee retention allow OST to gain credibility with clients, Gerrity believes.
Good employees are drawing more easily with the location of the Office, he added. “The Minneapolis-St. Paul is the biggest small town in the country, has a great culture, “he said.” It makes a very good match between the city and the company. ”
